This new Sittel Records release sees the the well established Stockholm Jazz Orchestra (SJO) collaborate with the pianist and composer Göran Strandberg. They perform Strandberg’s jazz suite in ten parts, Ikaros, focusing on the two soloists Karl-Martin Almqvist (tenor saxophone) and Johan Hörlén (alto saxophone).

SJO has toured for almost 25 years in Sweden and worldwide and has a reputation as one of the best jazz orchestras today.

Göran Strandberg has for many years been one of Sweden’s most personal and interesting jazz pianists. Now he also proves to be a top jazz band arranger. This is Swedish contemporary jazz at its best, performed by a top orchestra with world class soloists.
