With her new album PLAY ON WORDS, Jazzpreis Baden-Württemberg 2011 awardee Anne Czichowsky proves this attitude very impressively. The Anne Czichowsky Quintet builds new bridges between instrumental and vocal jazz creating and arranging lyrics for so far textless compositions and instrumental solos of e.g. Kenny Garrett or Michel Camilo. But the quintet!s repertoire also consists of self-compositions, modern arranged jazz Standards and classics in the challenging field of Vocalese, Anne Czichowsky never dominates the band as soloist, but always integrates herself as the fifth instrument. She always interacts with her musicians and leaves each of them their individual space. Thilo Wagner (piano), Lorenzo Petrocca (guitar), Axel Kühn (double bass) and Matthias Daneck (drums) are four high level musicians, who know how to play as a well-rehearsed unit but also as virtuosic soloists. Together with Anne Czichowsky they present an exciting musical performance that will fully satisfy fans of vocal as well as instrumental jazz.
