Mdou Moctar
Mahamadou Souleymane, professionally as Mdou Moctar, is a Nigerien songwriter, vocalist and guitarist. Souleymane plays a style of Tuareg guitar music in a modern rock setting, and first gained popularity after his music was traded around cellphones and memory cards in West Africa. He sings in Tamasheq, a variant of the Tuareg language spoken by nomadic tribes in North Africa.
