Reference Recordings proudly presents Manfred Honeck's masterly interpretation of Antonin Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 in E minor, (Op. 95) "From the New World", and the first commercial release of Carlos Simon's Four Black American Dances. This album was recorded live in February 2025 in the beautiful and historic Heinz Hall, home of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

This is no run-of-the-mill reading [of the Dvořák], with a rhythmic incisiveness that propels the piece forward with tremendous excitement….Simon's piece is full of imaginative orchestral effects, including the opening Ring Shout, which as part of its percussion section calls for a “Large Wood Stick on a Wooden Floor Board” whilst also requiring various players to engage in hand clapping.
