About

Shall We Gather brings together two of the world’s most distinctive vocal ensembles — VOCES8 and the Swedish barbershop champions Ringmasters — in a vibrant and compelling collaboration that celebrates the shared human instinct to sing together. Recorded at The VOCES8 Centre in London, the album blends the warmth and precision of the choral tradition with the unmistakable ‘ring’ and energy of barbershop harmony, creating a sound world that is both fresh and immediately engaging. Spanning centuries and styles, the programme moves effortlessly from Renaissance polyphony and Romantic choral works to folk song, contemporary composition, and iconic popular repertoire. Alongside music by Gabrieli, Rachmaninov, Praetorius and Whitacre sit imaginative arrangements of Loch Lomond, The Fool on the Hill, and I’ll Be There, culminating in a thrilling version of The Bells of Notre Dame. At its heart lies a simple but powerful idea: music as a communal act — an invitation to gather, listen, and connect. With exceptional vocal artistry and a palpable sense of joy in collaboration, Shall We Gather offers a unique meeting of styles and traditions, appealing equally to choral audiences and fans of contemporary a cappella.

The 2023 Grammy-nominated British vocal ensemble VOCES8 is the world’s top-streaming classical vocal group, performing globally across an extensive repertoire both a cappella and in collaboration with leading orchestras and conductors. Versatility and a commitment to musical excellence sit at the heart of their work, alongside a major education programme that reaches tens of thousands each year through the VOCES8 Foundation. Recent recordings include TWENTY, Nightfall, A Choral Christmas, and Christopher Tin’s The Lost Birds (Grammy-nominated). Through live performance, recordings, publishing, and digital initiatives such as LIVE From London and the VOCES8 Digital Academy, the ensemble continues to shape the global choral landscape.

Ringmasters Crowned Barbershop World Champions in 2012, the Swedish vocal quartet Ringmasters combine extraordinary a cappella precision with the energy and immediacy of pop performance. Their historic win — the first by a non- American quartet — led to major international touring and widespread recognition across the global vocal community. Collaboration is central to their work, from orchestral projects to partnerships with leading vocal ensembles including VOCES8 and The King’s Singers. Their releases on VOCES8 Records, including Origins (2026), have further established them as one of the world’s leading vocal groups. Celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2026, Ringmasters continue to tour extensively across Europe and North America.
