Jan presents a varied programme of major works from the core organ repertoire by Hollins, Dupré, Bach arr Karg-Elert, Eben, and Duruflé, recorded on the Father Willis organ of Salisbury Cathedral.

At the time this recording was made Jan was 19 and completing his final year at secondary school. With charismatic stage presence, impeccable technique, and remarkable interpretive maturity, Jan Liebermann is already recognised as one of the most brilliant of the younger generation of concert organists. His performances throughout Europe have thrilled audiences with his verve, colour, technical control, and sheer rhythmic energy – all repertoire played entirely from memory, a rare practice in the organ world.

Jan Liebermann began piano lessons at the age of seven and took up the organ at twelve, studying as a young student at the University of Music in Mainz under Gerhard Gnann. He now continues his studies with Martin Sander at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. He quickly gained international recognition through numerous competition successes, including first prize at the 2024 Northern Ireland International Organ Competition.

In 2025 he became the first organist ever to receive the prestigious Deutschlandfunk Promotional Award. In 2024, he attracted international admiration by performing all six of Bach’s Trio Sonatas from memory in a series of concerts. In 2025, he presented Marcel Dupré’s Préludes et Fugues, Op 7 and Op 36, also entirely from memory. Featured on the front page of the Berliner Zeitung and celebrated as a “young world star of the organ”, he has already established a reputation on major European stages, including the Philharmonie Berlin, Müpa Budapest, Philharmonie Essen, Konserthuset Stockholm, as well as Westminster Abbey, York Minster, King’s College, Cambridge, Liverpool and Salisbury Cathedrals in the UK. In 2025, Liebermann performed several times at the Philharmonie Berlin. In celebration of the 60th anniversary of its Schuke organ, he gave a highly-acclaimed solo debut, appeared in a concert with the Berlin Philharmonic’s principal flautist, Emmanuel Pahud, and performed across three evenings with the Berlin Philharmonic under Andris Nelsons.
