About
Containing several world premiere recordings, Polish Choral Lyricism is a beautiful new recording of choral music by father and son composers, Wojciech and Paweł Łukaszewski performed by the Choir of the Czestochowa Philharmonic accompanied by pianist Jakob Czekierda and conducted by Aleksandra Zemen. The inspired words of Poland’s literary greats are woven together with the timeless music of Wojciech and Paweł Łukaszewski to offer the listener a unique insight into the extensive choral oeuvre by both composers.
Wojciech Łukaszewski passed away at the age of just 42 but his work was described by tutor Nadia Boulanger: “Many works of value, completed, ready to be performed. Results of one year of work – exceptional. These are not exercises, but works deserving of public performance. They were composed by an artist”. Son Paweł Łukaszewski is best known for his resolutely anti-modern sacred choral music, is also an active conductor and is arguably the best-known Polish composer of his generation in and out of Poland.
