A Child’s Dream

Alexandra Dariescu (piano), Academy of St Martin in the Fields

A Child’s Dream
Even if the piecemeal programme never really gives Dariescu a chance to say anything profound, she brings her customary poise and polish as she shares these personal postcards from her world.

About

“A Child’s Dream” is a reflection of my personal journey in the music world, from some of the very first pieces I played as a child to significant milestones (like my concerto debut at age 9) sharing my exciting story with our listeners. This programme showcases the music that has been my lifelong companion, travelling with me across the globe but also some hidden gems by neglected composers throughout history, voices which deserve to be heard. – Alexandra Dariescu

I'm tapping my left foot - I've only just become aware of the movement, but I suspect it happened sometime around the Academy of St Martin in the Fields' second entry in Mozart's Rondo in D, K382. The ensemble fizzes and pops across Alexandra Dariescu's extended trills in the Allegretto grazioso as piano phrases are regally dispatched.
