Daucé’s group is French: their speciality has been French music and they view Bach through a French lens. The singers’ diction is impeccably crisp and faultlessly expressive, while the instrumentalists illuminate Bach’s counterpoint with the piquant colouring you might expect from Rameau (or, much later, Ravel)...an overwhelmingly glorious album that left me rejuvenated in body and soul.
