Exceptional pianist Bruce Liu, winner of the 2021 International Chopin Competition, has recorded Tchaikovsky's most famous solo piano work “The Seasons” for his second studio album.
With his unique interpretation of The Seasons, Liu brings the colors and moods of each month to life, once again showcasing his exceptional talent and profound musicality. Liu is a precise player, and understatement is a central quality of his interpretation. His articulation is exacting, and his dynamic shadings are subtle, with a particularly well controlled pianissimo. The piano is close-mic’d, but the recording matches Liu’s intimate sense of scale and happily avoids the practice of artificially stretching the size of the instrument as some engineers do.

His playing is exquisitely polished, but free of mannerisms; every phrase seems to have a totally natural shape and its own colour...The whole disc is a model of ego-free piano playing.
