About

After its heyday in the Baroque era, the oboe did not have an easy time in the Romantic period, which favored the sound of the clarinet and neglected the oboe criminally.

The famous master arranger Andreas N. Tarkmann thought this was reason enough to remedy the situation and arranged several works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. From seven selected Songs Without Words by Mendelssohn, he created a fascinating suite for oboe and string orchestra. On the other hand, Tarkmann turned Mendelssohn's early concerto for violin, piano and strings into a concerto for flute, harp and chamber orchestra.
