Maria Martinova’s electrifying and enticing new album is a “love letter” to the riveting universe of Tango. The revolutionary work of the Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla was eye opening for Maria. Piazzolla was her gateway into the rich and vibrant world of Tango where she discovered its many facets: sadness, humour, passion, intimacy… What makes Tango fascinating is the transformation it has undergone, starting with its roots in Angola and later having been influenced by multiple musical styles such as the Italian Canzonetta, Klezmer, French Chanson, Jazz and Classical Music.

This album is a collection of original compositions and arrangements for piano, celebrating the work of some of the masters – past and present – of Tango: Agustín Bardi, José Dames, Orlando Trípodi, Anselmo Aieta, Horacio Salgán, Juan Esteban Cuacci & Astor Piazzolla.
