Bruckner: Ave Maria

In the early works especially, a lot of the magic lies in the music’s charming simplicity, and there’s much to like about the unfussy performances too.

About
On this recording for CARUS, the NDR Choir Hamburg under the direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann presents a wide-ranging selection of Anton Bruckner's sacred works for choir and brass ensemble. Even though he is often perceived exclusively as an important symphonist, sacred music was always at the center of this famously deeply religious composer's oeuvre. The compositional period of the pieces stretches almost chronologically over 50 years, which means that Bruckner's compositional development can be traced very well.
