There’s no sense of pedantry, however, more a satisfying feeling that one is hearing the intricacies of Tchaikovsky’s writing in revealing detail.

nearly all of Welser-Möst’s tempos fall into the sweet spot, providing an appealingly natural sense of narrative thrust while also allowing the orchestra to sing, as it were.
