This release celebrates the Veprek Choir. It has gone through various editions since its formation in 1982. Its present choral director is Pavol Smolik. Several of his compositions are represented, alongside some of his Folk theme arrangements. These might be seen as being of local Czech interest, were it not for the 25 minute Te Deum by Radek Rajsek. Composed in 2005 for the centenary of the raising of Svata Hora to the status of a Basilica, its texts are taken from Folk poetry. The recording of Rajsek's Te Deum dates from 2005 and is conducted by Vaclav Matousek. The Veprek Choir is joined by the Tabor Military Band, plus carillon, which adds a very distinctive sound. It is vividly recorded - to be played at a high level!
