About
Francesca Massey is an outstanding British organist who at the age of 19 had gained all the top prizes in the Followship in the Royal College of Organists'diploma and was subsequently awarded the WT Best Memorial Scholarship and Silver Medal of the Worshipful Company of Musicians and the Musicians Benevolent Fund's Ian Fleming Award. Born in Birmingham in 1982 and educated at Cambridge University and the RNCM she is a freelance performer and teacher having worked as a cathedral musician for 20 years at St George's Chapel, Windsor, Manchester, Peterborough and Durham Cathedrals and latterly as Director of Music at Rochester Cathedral. Described by the Gramophone magazine as a "highly gifted accompanist" she has three previous highly acclaimed solo recordings with Priory - PRCD1137, PRCD1178 and PRCD1230 and this fourth showcasing the recently restored and much under recorded organ in St. Edmundsbury Cathedral in a programme of modern European virtuoso works.
