About

• Following the Quatuor Ébène’s award-winning Beethoven Around the World project

• Features the brilliant viola player and regular Quatuor Ébène collaborator Antoine Tamestit

• When the artists performed KV 515 a few years ago, Bachtrack wrote in a 4-star review: “There are few works in the classical repertoire as expansive as Mozart’s Quintet in C major, K515 … Its long arching phrases were captured brilliantly here by the Ebène Quartet and viola player Antoine Tamestit, who brought out not just the work’s luminous elements but also its darker, wistful undercurrents.”

While it’s always dangerous to nominate an outright ‘winner’ in this inexhaustible music, the Ébène are second to none in colour and vitality, and unrivalled in their lyrical tenderness. For me they become a new benchmark.
