About
Lucienne Renaudin Vary’s fourth Warner Classics project featuring two of the best-known trumpet concerti, recorded with the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester under conductor Michael Sanderling.
Combined with an interesting selection of lesser-known concerti by Johann Baptist Georg Neruda, Alexander Arutiunian and Harry James.
In the same spirit as her three previous albums in mixing styles and eras – thus the Harry James concerto, which highlights the brass and swing!
Bonus track: “A Post-scriptum on Haydn” is an improvisation on a theme from the Haydn concerto, performed spontaneously at the end of the recording sessions.

it’s with the Arutiunian that Renaudin Vary really comes out of her shell...the Armenian-inspired folksy melodies sing, and the faster sections are punchy and exciting. She’s even more at home in the jazzy swing era f ireworks of Harry James’s very brief Concerto, and you can’t help feeling that this is where her heart lies.
