Ralf Hoyer is one of the most versatile but lesser-known composers of the former GDR, who still goes his own way artistically. For him, innovation takes place not only in the research of tonal material, but also essentially in the structure and shape of the most varied of musical elements. In his electroacoustic compositions, the focus is on the development of an audibly comprehensible process. The sound implementation is based more on the targeted use of psychoacoustic phenomena than on the use of studio-technical plug-ins for direction and room simulation. This results in sound images of high transparency and plasticity, which can also be felt in the stereo versions of the predominantly 4- or 6-channel works.
