Russian pianist Larissa Dedova is now based in the United States, where she is a professor of piano at the University of Maryland. She has performed in major concert halls throughout the world. She has previously recorded highly acclaimed recordings for Centaur Records of the complete piano music of Debussy, and the compltete piano music of Ravel.

Performance-wise, I find Dedova’s Schubert quite special and deserving of a very strong recommendation. Her technical grasp of the notes and what the composer meant and intended by them are of an artistry in need of no further comment. What impressed me most about her playing, and what lingers still in my memory after listening to all five discs in the set, are the moods Dedova creates in each of the sonatas.
