About
Elena Baeva, well known to Polish audience from, among others, the Festival Chopin and His Europe, interprets two outstanding compositions by Mieczyslaw Karlowicz.
One of them is connected with the figure of Polish violinist - Stanislaw Barcewicz, for whom Karlowicz decided to compose his first composition for violin. The second one, the Symphony Rebirth, is traditionally seen in the patriotic and national context; it was the culmination of compositional studies of the artist in Berlin.
The album, released in the series Concerts frozen in time, is wholly devoted to Karlowicz's works for violin in the interpretation of Elena Baeva, playing the "Molitor" Stradivarius from 1697.

with both the RPO under their Polish associate conductor Grzegorz Nowak and the soloist Alena Baeva on bold form from the start, this is a compelling interpretation...Rebirth requires a conductor able to shape things with dramatic sweep. Nowak delivers that, and the transition from Scherzo to Finale is deftly handled.
