About

Postmodernism is a space that opens up to phenomena of heterogeneous origin and to their frequently very surprising and intriguing configurations; composer Maciej Zielinski takes freely from this potential. His output, as his biographers like to emphasise, comprises works of classical, film and popular music. Each of these spheres preoccupies him, in each he has much to say to his audience, and his success in each of them has been confirmed by prestigious awards. When asked who he writes his music for, he answered with the words of Witold Lutos 322;awski and Grazyna Bacewicz: I want to write such music that I would like to listen to myself [] and write it in such a way that musicians may want to play it. He stressed that he keeps the audience in mind as well. The four compositions contained on this CD offer important proof that he strives to make these priorities come true. Written in the first two decades of the 21st century, they all make use of a string Iwona Lindstedt orchestra in this case, the highly-regarded AUKSO Chamber Orchestra of the City of Tychy under Marek Mos, which frequently performs and records Zielinskis film music also. This new CD is an important recognition of his compositions for string players and orchestra.
