In Franz Schubert's piano sonatas D 959 & 960 we experience a wealth of different characters and contrasting emotions. The tension ranges from the greatest brightness to the deepest darkness, from powerful verve and chromatic turmoil to immersion and tenderness. In his recording, Hans-Jurg Strub traces the abundance of contrasts without losing sight of the big picture. Hans-Jurg Strub leads an active professional life as a soloist and chamber musician. Apart from performing in Switzerland, his main engagements are in Germany and Japan. Performances have been, among others, with the "Tonhalle Orchestra Zrich" and the "Winterthur City Orchestra" but this new 2 SACD set shows his solo artistry.
