Awards and reviews

December 2020

This performance of classic Respighi orchestral works is full of drama. Chailly pares back the orchestra to build tension before ramping it up in a way that feels utterly thrilling.

March/April 2021

he two big works, Pines of Rome and Fountains of Rome, unfold beautifully, and Chailly’s march up the Via Appia is just slow enough and sufficiently massive to remind you of a real army. Even better are the dark ruminations within. And I have never heard the Passacaglia at the conclusion of Ancient Dances and Airs played more richly.

10th January 2021

The playing throughout could hardly be bettered.
