About
The piano works of Alexander Skriabin, which can be heard on the produc- tion of Konstantin Semilakov, allows us to trace the development of his musical language through the chronological order of their composition. Starting from an early phase influenced by 19th century music, it gradually reveals a groundbreaking harmonic system that is no longer based on major- minor tonal connections. “Rarely have I heard a young pianist in this day and age who plays so wonder- fully and magnificently!” - Jorg Demus Konstantin Semilakovs, born 1984 in Riga, Latvia, won First Prize at the Interna- tional Piano Competition in Porto. In 2018 he was appointed professor of piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He is particularly interested in studying the phenomenon of colour perception in the classical piano repertoire as well as in synaesthetic performances of the music of Olivier Messiaen and Alexander Scriabin.
