About
Graham Barber, noted performer of German romantic music, performs his own arrangement for organ of Sigfrid Karg-Elert’s monumental sonata for harmonium, Op.46. Also included are six of the charming Portraits, Op.101. All performed on the Link organ of the Pauluskirche in Ulm. ‘This is a remarkable recording project in so many ways. This is music that deserves being heard on a full-sized pipe organ. And Graham Barber’s transcription is well-conceived, notably in his writing for the pedal line, missing entirely in the harmonium version. His amendments to the musical text are appropriate, and the performance is masterly.’ Andrew Benson-Wilson
