Apotheosis is the third and final volume in a complete set of the Beethoven quartets from Cuarteto Casals. This unusual series regroups the works according to their position within the three broad creative divisions of the composer's life - the formative years, the 'heroic' period and the 'late' period. This program assembles the 'late' quartets in a new sense - allowing their stylistic innovations to reach their full emotional power.

Pure tone is the lingua franca of the Casals Quartet’s Beethoven…This is not Beethovenplaying that shakes a fist at the listener.
