About

Harp, as a solo instrument has a wide literature and often it is of a very high quality. Harp in our album finds one of its highest level. In the second half of XVIII Century this instrument had an extraordinary luck in the European Courts especially in Paris where it had an exceptional diffusion in high society manors and it was in this context that Mozart composed in Paris in 1778 the Concert for flute, viola and harp KV 299 may be the most famous page of harp literature. More than one Century later harp was studied and appreciated by French composers and Claude Debussy left us his Sonata for flute viola and harp a work that can be considered one of the fundamental text for the instrument. Debussy Danse Sacree and Danse Profane close the album. The harper performing in our album is Lily Laskine ( 1893 - 1988 ) famous and talented artist that was protagonist of the French music scene of XX century her incredible talent, refinement in performance are underlined in these recordings of the most important part of her career.
