About
This collection presents vocal works of the 2019 anniversary composers: Rhian Samuel (born 1944) and ClaraSchumann (born 1819), two women who play or have played an important role in the development of song during their lifetimes. Displaying the beauty, optimism and integrity of their musical languages, the programme juxtaposes the brilliant classical mastery and vibrant word setting of Clara Schumann’s music against the more angular and dramatic boldness of Rhian Samuel.
