Five chamber works by the young Slovakian composer Adrián Demoč, who currently lives in Spain. Four of the pieces are played by Apartment House, and one by the Czech ensemble Ostravska Band / Fama Q. Demoč’s music is varied and hard to pin down, and a very welcome addition to Another Timbre’s catalogue. The disc includes ‘Kvarteto’, the first movement of which is a wonderful canon, and the title piece ‘Žiadba’ (‘tenderness’) which re-works material from ‘Kvarteto’ for solo violin (Mira Benjamin).
