Awards and reviews

Jul/Aug 2020

The performance by Julia Karpeta is excellent. She is both dexterous and quite musical in bringing out the various nuances of both composers’ styles. Her accompaniment is also nicely copesetic, though Anton Birulat’s theorbo playing can be a bit strident and implacable at times. Still, this is a lovely set of works that demonstrate what the gamba was like during its French heyday.

March 2020

An engaging and enjoyable reflection on the French gamba tradition.
