The orchestra now presents Bruckner’s symphonies in an exclusive edition, recorded over the last ten years together with some of the foremost Bruckner interpreters of our time.

In this new collection Haitink’s two performances, of Symphonies 4 and 5, are a treasure. Paavo Järvi brings added intensity to Symphony No. 2, resulting in a gripping performance. Bruckner has always been one of Mehta’s strongest composers, and his Eighth Symphony is eloquent and satisfying. Rattle’s Ninth Symphony would rank as great, to my ears, if it weren’t for the very best from the past. In the end I have no hesitation about recommending this release.
