Free of barlines and dynamic markings, the Klavierstücke Op 30 have a palpable freedom, while the Op 35 Musik für Klavier is introspective and peaceful. Finally, the 11 Inventionen Op 36, again barline- free and occupying a truly capricious, post- Schoenbergian space. Throughout, Gutman’s sense of clean articulation pays huge dividends in this music. A fabulous disc, and a superb complement to Stott’s BIS disc, Hot Music.
