About

David Muller has been principal bassoon with the Mexico City Symphony and all major Southern California orchestras, including the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Pacific Symphony, and Long Beach Symphony. From 1987 to 2003 he was bassonist with the internationally-acclaimed Westwood Wind Quintet. Rose Chen has performed as soloist and chamber musician in Canada, Austria, Brazil, France, Israel, Hong Kong, and China.

Mille Morte roughly translates to "a thousand little deaths" and refers to the difficulty and emotional high points of the music, there being a climax in almost every phrase. All the pieces, indeed, are intense as well as beautiful. This program represents some of the best-known recital works for bassoon as well as some fabulous lesser-known works.
