About
For the new recording of Johannes Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, Chorwerk Ruhr decided to use the version with four-hand piano accompaniment created by the composer himself.
A comparatively small ensemble of singers ensures perfect comprehensibility of the text. This rarely played version opens up new perspectives on the seemingly familiar work.
ChorWerk Ruhr was founded in August 1999 under Artistic Director Frieder Bernius who ran ChorWerk Ruhr until 2003. From 2008 to 2011, the ensemble was supervised by Rupert Huber. Since 2011 Florian Helgath is the Artistic Director whose interests range from traditional polyphony to illuminating contemporary choral music in relation to traditional forms of music.
