About
The version on this album for soloists, choir, two pianos and percussion was arranged by Wilhelm Killmayer in 1956 at the request of Carl Orff, his teacher at the time. Musically, the chamber version has a charm all of its own. The choral music and percussion parts are unchanged, while the orchestral part is arranged for two pianos. While this does not increase the music's rhythmic essence, it does alter its significance. Only in this reduction does it become clear how sparingly, yet cleverly, Orff handles his compositional material.
