Stravinsky: The Soldier's Tale
With New Narration Adapted and Performed by Roger Waters
Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival Musicians, Roger Waters (narrator)
Roger Waters, of Pink Floyd fame, is the star turn as narrator. His Germanic (or is it Russian?) accent for the Devil leaves a bit to be desired, but it’s otherwise a characterful performance.

The narrative is admirably clear and [Waters’s] additions contain some fine verbal flourishes…His laid-back delivery of the text itself, meanwhile, doesn’t always help, I’m afraid…Playing without a conductor, the Bridgehampton musicians are excellent. Ensemble is carefully focused, solos beautifully done…The recording is immaculately balanced, though sound effects have been added.
