About
Ensemble Allegria is an up-and-coming chamber orchestra at top level internationally. The orchestra has att racted attention for its playful performance style and spirited virtuosity.
Since 2008, artistic director Maria Angelika Carlsen and her 22 fellow musicians have challenged one another to improve and become a force to be reckoned with in Norwegian musical life.
The recording presents the Mozart Concertante in E-fl at major, K. 364/320d coupled with Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht, Op. 4 . Ensemble Allegria regularly performs at festivals, among them, the Bergen Internati onal Festival, the Hardanger Music Festival, the Oslo Chamber Music Festival, Fjord Classics, and the Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival.
In 2012 Ensemble Allegria was the first ensemble ever to be awarded the Statoil Talent Award for classical music. In the words of jury chairman Leif Ove Andsnes: “Ensemble Allegria radiates a bright musicality that generates ensemble playing with ardour and intensity.”

A bright, fresh, historically-informed approach to the opening of the Sinfonia concertante sets out the performance’s stall: detailed, stylish readings that glow with the joy of the very act of music-making. Interactions in the central movement are the essence of chamber music before the pure joy of the finale is projected in all its glory.
