This is the debut recording from Yuanfan Yang, piano category winner of the 2012 BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, and an equally exciting pianist and composer.
Still only 19 years old and of Chinese origin, Yang has received prizes and invitations around the world for both his pianistic and his compositional abilities, both showcased on this disc of repertoire including Schubert, Liszt, Maxwell-Davis and Yuanfan Yang's own compositions.

This is, in all respects, a young man’s disc...[the Aquarelles were] written when Yang was in his mid-teens. They are vividly programmatic, relating to waves, the sinking sun and a haunted bell, and ranging in mood from splashy virtuosity to a soulful poignancy impressive in one so young.
