Internationally renowned composer Yotam Haber’s debut CD features five diverse vocal and instrumental masterworks spanning 2007-14.Torus, is a string quartet inspired by modernist sculpture; the viola and piano duet From the Book of Maintenance and Sustenance is based on Italian-Jewish chant; We Were All and One Leaving Brooklyn engage in very different ways with recent poetry; and Last Skin, for eight electric quarter-tone violins, reworks material from We Were All.Mr. Haber, whose music the New Yorker critic Alex Ross hailed as “deeply haunting,” was named by the Los Angeles Times as one the five classical musician “2014 Faces to Watch”, and was chosen as one of the “30 composers under 40” by Orpheus Chamber Orchestra’s Project 440.His grants and awards numerous, and he has served as Artistic Director of MATA, the organization founded by Philip Glass that supports young composers throughout the world.
