Dr. Salvador Brotons was born into a Barcelona family of musicians. His father was his first music teacher, and he studied flute with him before continuing his studies at the Barcelona Conservatory of Music, obtaining superior titles in flute, composition, and orchestral conducting. He moved to the United States in 1985 with the receipt of a Fulbright Scholarship, and went on to receive his Doctorate in Music from Florida State University. This is the first volume in Roberto Alvarez’s project to record Broton’s entire compositional output for flute. Born in Asturias, on the Northern coast of Spain, Roberto Alvarez began his studies in the Music Conservatory of his birthplace before going on to study at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester. He currently serves as Principal Piccolo of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.
