The soprano Miriam Alexandra has compiled an exciting Lieder programme for this production with very interesting repertoire (including several first recordings) by the composer Pauline Viardot. Most of the poems on this CD are by Eduard Mörike. She recorded the Lieder last August at the Studio Britz at Deutschlandradio in Berlin. She is accompanied by none other than the renowned vocal accompanist and Professor Eric Schneider.

Her voice is crystalline, bell-like, with an appealing gleam at the top, albeit limited in its dynamic range. Her essentially non-interventionist approach lets clean, clear lines do the primary interpretative work, though her diction is admirably clear throughout.
