About
Twenty years ago, Bo Skovhus made his first recording of Schubert’s Die schöne Müllerin (The Fair Maid of the Mill) as a young baritone at the outset of his career. Now an established opera and Lied interpreter, he presents the first of three new recordings of Schubert's song cycles: “I’m very thankful to be able to do this again. As a young man you tend to not reflect as much. Now that I’m older, I understand the music more and more. Especially for this cycle, it’s important to have another point of view.” (Bo Skovhus)
Skovhus' accompanist is Stefan Vladar, the renowned Viennese pianist who casts the virtuosity of the piano part in a completely new light.

Ever since his sensational debut as Don Giovanni at the Volksoper in Vienna in 1988, he [Bo Skovhus] has been one of the most sought-after lyric baritones, not only in opera but also as a recitalist. His was always a beautiful, flexible and nuanced voice, distantly similar to that of his former opera manager of the Volksoper, Eberhard Waechter, who also was a baritone, and his delicate pianissimos were greatly admired.
