The Amabile Choirs of London, Canada have purposefully released this disc for Canada’s sesquicentennial to celebrate their rich choral heritage. This recording features the music of Matthew Emery, renowned Canadian composer, who has been commissioned to write dozens of new choral masterpieces with performances celebrated globally. His writing questions and challenges the human spirit and exemplifies why Canadian choral music is renowned around the world. His use of musical phrase is exquisite and mature; his use of harmonies decidedly unconventional yet readily understood; his marriage of text and music a testament of his beliefs about how music can support the continued existence of a creative and inspiring world.
