Schubert-Shostakovich is a connection which seems unusual at first. However, on closer listening to the chamber music works of both composers recorded by the Salzburg Chamber Soloists, surprising parallels become clear: The search for new forms, eloquent melodies and harmonious finesse characterize the sound of each of these compositions.
