Gloria Villanueva’s music is utterly sincere, with nothing artificial , and is where we find the essence of the composer herself: it is sensitive music with no pretensions, no discordant elements, but at the same time daring in its desire to belong to both tradition and give rise to something unique at the same time. The music on this CD encourages us to reflect on the contrasts of contradictions – whether it be of style – a Paradox – or in the concept of time – a Flashback. The result cannot avoid being somewhat eclectic but in no sense strange if viewed within the framework of 21st Century postmodernity. followed by the guitar of six single strings, which is the one we may find in the classical-romantic repertoire. Nevertheless, the historical reality is more complex than what we can imagine: grosso modo, we may say that, until well into the 19th century, several plucked string instruments coexisted: guitars with five double and single strings, of six double and single strings, and even guitars with seven or more strings are mentioned.
