About

Tomi Satomaa is a church organist at the Finnish-speaking parish of Lansi-Turunmaa in south-western Finland and as an organ teacher at the Arkipelagi Music Institute. He also continues to perform widely. He has been active in developing organ instruction for beginners in Finland in recent years and is in demand as a lecturer in organ pedagogy. In 2015, he made recordings for the Finnish Broadcasting Company and also recorded material for his debut album. Tomi Satomaa conducts the Parainen Vocal Ensemble, which he founded in 2011 and whose repertoire includes music by Buxtehude, Schutz and Part. In 2016, Tomi Satomaa was elected chairman of the Organum Society, the oldest organ society in the Nordic countries. For this, his first album, Satomaa concentrates on Finnish organ music composed from 1899 to 2007. He performs here on organs from Finnish archipelago- Nauvo (O. Schwan 1791), Korppoo (B.A. Thule 1870) and Parainen (Th. Frobenius 1969).
