About

Daniele Ghisi’s poetics is clearly engaged in problematizing and, when possible, restating the necessity for a contemporary music able to inhabit the sound landscape of its time. A listening composer, Ghisi in no way opts for the importation of easy stylistic traits, he does not indulge in games of variation on kitsch, nor in consciously rhetorical pastiches. And yet, the surprising heterogeneousness of the materials is one of the first data that emerge from the approach of pieces like abroad, the longest and perhaps most important in this recording. + The pieces on this album were written in very few years (2010-12) and raise the doubt whether this heterogeneousness deliberately not absorbed in the form is a compositional phase to go beyond or to be further developed. It is a question which the following pieces seek, discreetly, to answer.
