About

Dorothea Seel is an expert of flutes of the 18th and 19th centuries. She frequently performs alongside The English Concert, London Classical Players, Concerto Cologne, Munich Chamber Orchestra, and she holds master classes for traverse flute, classic flute, and romantic flute at the Southampton University in England, the State Music College of Trossingen, and the Music Academy of Riga. For this historically informed recording, Seel has chosen music from Carl Reinecke, Theobald Bohm, Richard Strauss, Josef Rheinberger, and Albert Franz Doppler. She performs on an 1890 Julius Max Burger conical ring-keyed flute based on the Bohm model from 1832. She is joined by Christoph Hammer, who performs here on a Johann Baptist Streicher Fortepiano from the late 19th century.
