'Along with many other harpsichordists and pianists, I believe that the Goldberg Variations ranks among the most significant works ever written for keyboard. Although I first heard a recording of the work 25 years ago, I have come to realise that, over the years, many aspects of my playing and interpretation have remained constant. And yet there has been a process of maturation, which I now want to document, simply because the variations are such an integral part of my life. Coupling the Goldberg Variations with La Capricciosa by Dietrich Buxtehude is something I have wanted to do for many years.’ Christine Schornsheim
